How do you feel about Music Conferences? Check out how these Music Conference panelists felt about participating!

Why did you feel it was important to participate in this years Radio One Music and Entertainment Conference?

Stephanie Mills

I haven't done a music conference since back in the day and I think Music conferences are very educational for those who come and learn about things in the business. Especially actors, singers and writers. You are talking to those that are knowledgeable and sometimes they can help you side step some things you wouldn't have to experience because they have already paved the way. That's why I think they are important and another reason is because Elroy is my best friend and he asked me to come.

Marcus Houston

I feel like it is always important to participate in conferences because it gives the people out there that are really really trying to get themselves out there it gives them a chance to speak to artists like us that already have careers and we are doing thinks. It gives them the opportunity to feel like we are all the same because I feel like we are same. We were just in their position years ago. We all do the same things to get where we are and I feel like its important for them to understand and for us to give them better examples and a better out look on the how to and the hard work it takes to get here.

Well for one I have had a lot of set backs and there were times when my confidences was shot to the ground and doors were closed right in my face. So I think its important to encourage people and let them know you can get over what ever and you can keep going. Nobody controls your destiny but you and God.

Jim Jones

These conferences build awareness to up and coming artists and its always good for them to see artists that have made a success for them selves over and over. I have made a career out of this hip hop industry and its very hard to do. Its always good to give advice to those who are trying to do the same

I felt it was important to participate and give my two cents on anything I can do to help other get in the music business. I know it is my passion so any two cents that was given to me was very very helpful and I just want to do the same for others as it was done for me.

Jean Baylor

Initially I thought it was a good opportunity for me just coming back out as a solo artist and help me get back in to the mix. But it turned out to be a really good place to share with new and up and coming song writers, singers and producers on my experiences and what I have been able to learn in the industry for the past 15yrs. It was really good to share and shed some light on the process of the industry and how some of the inner working go

It was my second year invited and it was important for me to be here because it is an extension of me giving back. As a photographer, magazine publisher and wardrobe stylist, we sometimes get caught up in our careers and we don't take the time to give back. I feel that there are so many people that are under educated about how the industry works and how to brand themselves. So being here was an extension of me helping out and making sure they educate themselves and understand this is a business.

Jermaine Dupri ended the day with these words of encouragement:

For those aspiring artist: Make sure you pay attention and listen and try and stay focused. I believe the best way for you to win in this business is to be educated. Don't fall in to this not knowing what's going on
