The LIT FUSE LITERARY SALON SERIES is Philadelphia's first official literary salon dedicated to preserving Hip Hop cultural literacy through readings and discussions with some of today’s most prolific DJs, emcees, producers, authors, editors, visual artists, and filmmakers from the 215 and beyond.
THE LIT FUSE HIP HOP LITERARY SALON SERIES marches on with this month's guest speakers:
Philly Hip Hop stalwart MC BREEZE a.k.a. JOEY B. ELLIS whose meteoric rise from West Philly's "The Bottoms" to the heights of the entertainment industry was avant garde and well ahead of his time. Before scoring a highly coveted slot to open for MC HAMMER and penning and performing the hit single, "Go For It" for the ROCKY V soundtrack MC BREEZE sparked a media firestorm for his song, "Discombobulatorbubalator"
Next up, TOMMY HILL a.k.a. TOMMY BUTTA, leader of one of Philly's most notorious rap crews, "Richard Allen Mob" a.k.a. RAM SQUAD, who made national headlines but is currently on the road to redemption. I cannot begin to put words to this story except to say that it's the stuff that keeps Hollywood in business but it's definitely not for character actors. TOMMY HILL offers us a rare and fascinating glimpse into the underworld of the business of Hip Hop from both the artist AND businessman perspective.
Finally, Author DR. SULAYMAN CLARK will speak about his newly-released, White House/HBCU-endorsed book, "The Rains (Voices for American Liberty) - The Battle for the Heart and Soul of a Nation". This book is now required reading for the School District of Philadelphia.
Class is in session folks!
